The Grotto (VENERANCE) by Tekka-Croe The Grotto (VENERANCE) by Tekka-Croe
Well, I certainly wasn't planning for this to be my first piece of artwork in 2014.    I worked this up over the last few hours based on conversations with the Project VENERANCE team.  Needless to say, I was going more for atmosphere than perfect scaling/detail here.

The VENERANCE development blog can be found here: venerance.net/

Halo belongs to Microsoft, 343i

Incredible!

It makes me think on the last maps for the amazing mod Marathon: Eternal (what shouldn't surprise me being this Halo-related. :D ).

Keep the good work. ;)

Just read up on venerance, sounds cool.
(Eric Nylund is my favorite writer for Halo extended universe stuff so its cool to see a mod based off his stuff)

With several hours and the Lazy Brush Set: vesner.deviantart.com/art/tana…

More seriously, I started with a rough sketch, and then laid very dark tones underneath it.  I then worked upwards with progressively lighter tones.  After that, I gave it a couple of light colored overlays to add a bit of a color gradient throughout the image.

I can't really think of any one thing off the top of my head.  I think it really is just the long slow process of practice, and learning the ins and outs of your preferred program (if you look at my early digital stuff, it's nothing to be proud of).
