Description

It's been well over a year since the last time we saw a fresh reference for my OC, Reina Cloude, in her original context (that being Novus Imperium, an original sci-fi universe created by several friends and I). In the time since posting the last reference, I've put a lot of effort into nailing down the appearance of her standard outfit, as well as putting a bit more thought into the technology integrated with her. Her hair has also changed so as to better obey gravity.

So hey, does this look cleaner than my previous reference art? It should, because I finally said "screw it," and went full-digital with this one. I obviously was working from pencil artwork to begin with, but what you're seeing here was done entirely with my computer. I still did all the linework, coloring, shading and whatnot by hand of course. I don't like using vector graphics for character artwork. Vector looks too perfect and clean, it has no soul. Which is fine for decals and mechanical schematics and galaxy maps, but not for characters.

Anyhow, on to the newly updated description:

Name: Reina Cloude
Sex: Female
Age: 19 (Karic standard)*
Height: 5'4"/1.6 meters
Skin: Light tan
Hair: Reddish brown
Eyes: Black/green

"Reina Cloude" is a product of the Karic military's super soldier program, codenamed "Warchild." She was originally grown from a genetically altered embryo, frozen and stored for military research. Within her batch of subjects, she was selected for "general purpose" training. Rather than being specially conditioned with a set of specific skills (eg. Sniping/recon specialist), she was given a full range of multi-role skill sets, albeit with an emphasis on close-quarters combat.

Technology: She is, at this point, as much a machine as she is a human. her entire skeletal structure has been strengthened (and some bones simply replaced) with lightweight carbon-based synth/organic components.

Her lower arms and legs (starting at the lower biceps and mid-thighs, respectively) are fully prosthetic. Each joint is anchored by a hybrid synth/organic component, far stronger than natural bone, yet able to be grafted directly onto existing bone structures. The "skin" segments of her prosthetics are made from a photo-harmonic material which automatically adjusts to her skin tone upon activation. When the prosthetics are inactive, the "skin" fades to a dull ceramic white.

Other high-stress joints such as the shoulders and hips have been augmented via synth/organic muscles, grafted into Reina's natural musculature.

Reina's eyes are completely prosthetic. In addition to the Heads-Up Display capabilities available with most prosthetic eyes, the eyes of the Warchild soldiers have multi-spectrum capabilities, up to 10x optical zoom, and are fully EMP-hardened. The unnatural aesthetic appearance of the Warchild augmetic eyes was selected for its value as a psychological weapon, the black eyes with their dimly luminous rings intended to unsettle the super-soldier's enemies.

Located at the base of her skull is a universal systems plug, allowing her to directly interface with any compatible hardware/software. This is especially useful when using weapons with digital scopes. She has a series of similar plugs embedded throughout her body, though the majority of these are primarily intended for ease of access during diagnostics and maintenance.

Many of Reina's low-level augmetic components are powered by miniature heat sinks throughout her body which convert natural excess body heat into usable energy, which also gives her the benefit of a reduced heat profile.

Problems: Subject is certifiably insane due to mental trauma, and highly unpredictable. Appears to suffer from some manner of schizoid personality disorder, making it difficult for her to express complex emotions.

Currently: Reina's whereabouts are presently unconfirmed. She was assigned to kill or capture the notorious Saldean** freelancer Trent Khain Valimund ("Timberwolfe"). Reina was initially presumed dead after an extended period of broken contact. Since then, it has come to light that the she was captured, and has latched onto Timberwolfe as a sort of surrogate father.

Reina has not caused significant danger to the state as of yet. If she becomes a threat to Karic, Karic Special Weapons division/Green Squad has authority to seek and destroy.

*In the universe of Novus Imperium, Karic is humanity's homeworld. Its landmasses are uniformly covered in a blanket of multilevel city, and has an artificial ring, as well as numerous deep-space colonies in orbit at Karic's Lagrange Points. It is the most powerful planet in the galaxy.

**Saldea is an enormous terrestrial planet. It is inhabited by humanoids, who are heavily muscled to counter the planet's high gravity. On an earth-like planet, a Saldean will likely seem to possess superhuman strength.
