Gundam RX-78-2 Ver. Te by Tekka-Croe Gundam RX-78-2 Ver. Te by Tekka-Croe
Ver. Te = Version: Tekka

It seems that every self-respecting mecha fan has taken a gander at the original Mobile Suit Gundam. This is my redesign of the classic giant robot that started the juggernaut that is the Gundam franchise. I've tried to make this look instantly recognizable as the original RX-78-2 (what happened to the RX-78-1?), but still be distinctly my own style.

Sketched with a .3mm mechanical pencil, inked with a .2mm Micron pen, colored with Copic Sketch markers. Markings added in Photoshop Elements 6.

Officially the RX-78-1 was destroyed in a training accident and was repurposed to provide parts for units 2-8.

The RX-78-1 was made into spare parts for the RX-78-2 and the RX-78-3 was used as test bed back a jarbor base, in the comic the RX-78-2 gets destoryed and the RX-78-3 was given as the replacement for Amuro Ray.

"what happened to the RX-78-1?"

Well, it had black instead of the blue, and I'm pretty sure it survived the war - mainly due to the fact that I don't think it ever saw combat, but it still provided the necessary data to improve on and from it came three RX-78-2's, two of which were reduced to spare parts by the attack that landed Amuro in the cockpit of the surviving 2-model. Come to think of it, I think 1 might have been the base from which the Full Armor Gundam was built, I don't really remember....

Nice, you've managed to change the RX 78 and keep its original image ( so when people look they'll know 'hey its tje original gundam!' ) but yet change it so that it becomes unique!

A good render, this; I'm actually seeing some design cues from Strike, Impulse, and Exia, whilst being a fully-original interpretation altogether...

Katoki and Okawara would be damn proud if they saw this...
