Faerie Gundam by Tekka-Croe Faerie Gundam by Tekka-Croe
The latest Gundam series, Gundam AGE has given me a keen appreciation for clean and simplistic mecha designs, and inspired this quick piece.

There's no backstory for this swift little Gundam, just me wanting to design something AGE-ish in nature. I'm really happy with how the proportions turned out, though, so this may become a template for future designs.

Would this be a shorter than normal mobile suit?
Tekka-Croe Featured By Owner Jan 25, 2016  Student Digital Artist
When I was drawing it, I imagined this design being in a similar size range to the Mobile Suits in Gundam F91, so about 15 meters in height (compared to the 18-20 meter height that applies to most Gundam series').

Ok. It definitely comes off that way.

Very nice.. This should have been in Gundam 00...

Great job on the legs and Feet, I often seen many "pros/official Gundam MS's" Fumble with this, especially units that don't have ankle guards. This often throws many MS's designers off and presents many different regions of the suit that have to be taken into consideration for proper Balancing of the design. But you've excelled quite well. What challenges did you face designing the legs? (I see a lot of shape harmony with the arms that relate the legs as well [something many MS's artist don't know about.)

Even the top of the Chest and the Gundams Forehead bear Similar/Different characteristics. You hit the nail on the head there, I often see people overlook that idea and go for something that doesn't harmonize with the suit Locally, or even Globally.

Very interesting that you made the forward skirt have no details... I assume cause it has to locally harmonize with the detail-free forward-facing thighs...

You understand Eastern Mecha very well, it's often a rarity to see such finely balanced + Catchy designs... Just because a design is balanced, does not mean it's a Catchy-Design...I like your designs... I have my eyes on you for future projects, and that is something I've said less than 5 times during my stay on DA. So you should feel proud of that. If your in need of a Collaborator anytime, for any reason, let me know, I can always make time.

There really was a "Fairy" Gundam but it was very short lived. Love this piece, man.
BlitzkriegOmega Featured By Owner May 2, 2012
if that was made as a model, I'd buy!

Overall it's a great design! My one critique would be the head. If you could just change the head's design or maybe realign the mouth plate (or whatever it's called) because I feel it's protruding or just not sitting well with the rest of the head. That's just me but the line art, the coloring, it's clean and awesome looking. Good job man!

Thanks! I know what you mean about the mouth. I've always had trouble getting the muzzle right where it needs to be.

I just adore that chest design. This thing would fit very well in the AGE show. Maybe Emily or one of her descendants could pilot it. :P

I was going to ask if this was a "sequel" to the Gundam Pixie or whatever it's codename was. I quite like this design, nice and simple. Good job!

Wow what a unique design. Nice.

I like the rounded chest and the large knees. The knees looks like they might be hiding an additional beam saber as well.

Overall very nice. Simple and unique but still very "Gundam".

Quite as basic as it should be. BTW, the V-fin reminded me of the V2 Gundam...

if the AGE-1 Gundam looked like this i might have liked it better. Good thing AGE-2 gundam looks tons better especially with its "waverider" mode

This is excellent man :).
Even though people like you and me aren't in the target audience this time around, I've been enjoying Gundam AGE, and I like the simplistic, and sometimes rounded designs too :).

Damn could never get the hand of gundam legs... :<

AGE designs are nicely simple yeah, but some are simple to the point of being overly toyetic. You seemed to avoid that, though.
