Cirrus (2011)

Like the Nimbus Fighter [link] , I've been working with the Cirrus' design for several years. I designed the first iteration in the ninth grade, and it was essentially a ripoff of a modded ship called the "Angelus" for the awesome open-source space RPG, Transcendence. Over the last four years, the Cirrus has undergone a plethora of changes, although at the barest, simplest level, the original shape is still there.

The Cirrus is an oddity among small starships. It is larger than a yacht, and smaller than a corvette. Usually, the only ships to occupy this odd space on the charts are private freighters, which the Cirrus most definitely is not.
It was constructed originally as a small planetary survey ship, intended to be deployed in-system by a larger scientific vessel. Unfortunately, the project that the Cirrus was constructed for suffered severe budget cuts, and was forcibly cancelled. Cirrus was placed into storage indefinitely.

And then a notorious Saldean freelancer called Timberwolfe needed a ship. His beloved freighter, the Claymore had been destroyed during a raid on a massive pirate station. Claymore had been mortally wounded, and Timberwolfe decided to use her as her namesake suggested, and impaled the pirate fortress (during the same operation, Reina's hair got stuck in an emergency airlock, and she was forced to hastily lop it off with her knife. That is how I am explaining her current hairstyle).
Needing a ship in order to take contracts, Timberwolfe started looking for a replacement. In speaking with several specialty ship dealers, one of them suggested looking into an old storage yard owned by the Titolian Tech Expedition Company. After 23 years of taking up space, Titolian Tech gladly sold Timberwolfe the Cirrus, happy to be getting their storage space back.
Several retrofits of dubious legality later, Timberwolfe had a serviceable freelancing ship.
In addition to having a docking port for Reina's Nimbus fighter located in the ship's rear, the Cirrus has the distinction of being one of the smallest private vessels to be fitted with a slipspace drive. Also, through a combination of heat-retention plating, baffled engines, and a comprehensive ECM suite, the Cirrus can become virtually invisible when running at low power.
